The Expense of Designer Fragrance 

There is a reason that designer frangrance is so expensive. You may go to a department store and find that the bottle of perfume that you desired is over a hundred dollars for an ounce. Designer fragrance cost a fortune because of the brand that makes it wants to create an image of privledge, but also because the reaserch and testing for such a perfume costs a lot of money as well.

One of the reasons that designer perfume is so expensive is because it is often made with hard to find ingredients. For example, the world's best selling perfume is Chanel No. 5, which has civet as one of its ingredients. Civet is a secretion from the gland of the civet cat. Chanel used to harvest this substance from cats in what many would conclude is an inhumane method, but today they have developed a synthetic to the real thing, which of course cost money to develop.

Even when the ingredients are harvested in humane ways on plants, it is still very hard to get what you need for designer perfume out of those materials. One of the ingredients used in some of the most expensive designer perfumes is rose oil. It takes one hundred pounds of rose petals to produce just one ounce of rose oil. Ouch! That means you have to go through tons and tons of roses just to try and make a few bottles of perfume.

Of course, one of the main reasons that designer fragrnaces are so expensive is that they have discovered that people will willingly pay more for a product that they think is prestigious. It's a bit like wearing Christian Louboutin shoes as opposed to PayLess brand. Everyone turns to look at the Christian Louboutin shoes and perhaps does not notice the generic shoes from a discount store.

When you pay for a tiny bottle of designer fragrance, you are not just paying for the perfume. You are also paying for the marketing of the perfume, all of the models and advertisers in marketing the perfume, the fancy bottle, the store selling the perfume, the company making the perfume and the name on the label. 

Designer fragrance is well worth the cost to many discerning women. The smell of a fine bottle of perfume can bring excitement and confidence to the woman. It is typically the last thing that a woman will apply before she leaves for her evening out. A special spritz of designer fragrance is just what she is looking for to complete her outfit.
